Jackson State University’s location in the major metropolitan center of Mississippi provides unique opportunities for visual arts students. The Mississippi Museum of 艺术 and the Smith Robertson Museum and Cultural Center, as well as numerous art galleries, are only blocks away.
Jackson State University was one of the first institutions in Mississippi to be accredited by the National Association of Schools of 艺术 and 设计 (NASAD). The accreditation has been maintained since 1978. Jackson State University is proud to be an HBCU holder of this accreditation.

Students who graduate from this program of study are able to work across a range of media, and are especially adept at the creative process within their chosen concentration. They are well grounded in history and theory, and have had many experiences and opportunities that enable them to practice art. With resources including multiple computer suites, 暗室, an expansive permanent collection and professional art gallery, the 艺术系 offers students an opportunity to gain professional experience throughout their undergraduate degree.
